I had a bunch of games and PS+ when I got my PS5 but I still played through 100% of this and got the Platinum before I even got to any of them.

Rex or a Manta Ray, with the latter being unlockable as a decoration via the Gatcha Game. The manta ray was the second tech demo available on the pack-in Demo 1 disc to showcase the console’s prowess, depicting a manta ray swimming in the ocean with a school of fish. In the Labo area is a Bot using a PS1 controller to drive a red car around him. This references Ridge Racer, released on the PS1 in 1994 and developed by Namco.
Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After going underneath the large controller statue and entering the road area, this puzzle piece is on the left on the section of music chips. Artifact 2/3 “SingStar Microphone” – From the same red room as puzzle piece 3, drop through the hole in the bottom of the room to find a frozen area. Break through the ice and light the explosive enemy to reveal this artifact.

But Astro’s Playroom never feels dull for a second thanks to its unbounded creativity. It is worth noting that the game is maintained in a very colorful artistic style, which may appeal to both older and younger players. Lucky for you, Astro’s Playroom is one of the best showpieces of the PS5, setting a new standard for what this next generation is really capable of. In one level, I run Astro through a rainstorm, and an automatic umbrella pops up out of his head.

So often that’s where magic in video games happens, and that’s most certainly the case here. On its own, this is a beautifully crafted, exquisitely paced and absolutely gorgeous 3D platformer. Combined with TG88 ‘s bundled on, it’s something very special indeed – and one of the best launch titles I can remember in an age. Even better is that if you find that you missed some collectibles and want to go back to get them then pulling up the Activities menu will give you options to instantly jump to where you need to go. The game runs at a full 4K resolution and a smooth 60fps as well and it makes great use of its color palette and lighting. The soundtrack is catchy and playful just as you would expect from a platformer and the 3D audio really helps add to the immersion. The speaker on the DualSense controller plays a lot of sounds out of it which is something I always enjoy and each one is done really well here to help add to the experience.
